Autumn Menu Plan

Today is the last day to enter to win one of two free copies of Herbal Nurturing: a family healing and learning guide.

We are at the height of fall produce – I can hardly see my kitchen table or counters for the squash, pumpkins, and cabbages as we speak. Our crisper drawer is bursting with root vegetables and apples, our garden is producing lettuce and greens, and my refrigerator is filling up with fermented vegetables for winter.

I wrote about incorporating fall and winter produce into your menu plan last week over at the Plan to Eat blog. So this week I thought I’d follow my own advice since all of this produce needs to either be eaten or preserved.

Speaking of which, I have started adding a few recipes to the Plan to Eat program. I have tried to copy and paste over my recipes from this blog to recipe storage sites before and it has been quite tedious. Plan to Eat has a great feature that lets you add a whole recipe’s ingredient list by simply copying and pasting. It is then smart enough to convert it and allow you to tweak it if the measurement is inaccurate. It also creates a grocery or pantry list so you know what you need for the week’s menu.

With that in mind, onto the menu plan.

Monday

  • breakfast: eggs + bacon, raw milk
  • dinner: autumn vegetables + sausages in the crock pot, salad
  • prep/preserve: soak nuts, go to health food store

Tuesday

  • breakfast: grain-free apple clafouti, raw milk
  • dinner: autumn vegetable gratin; salad with apples, blue cheese and nuts
  • prep/preserve: soak oats in morning, dehydrate nuts, make cortido

Wednesday

Thursday

  • breakfast: eggs + bacon. yogurt.
  • dinner: Spaghetti Squash with Meat Sauce, Salad
  • prep: bake bread

Friday

  • breakfast: oatmeal pancakes, smoothies for me
  • dinner: Grain-free vegetable lasagna with meat sauce, coconut custard

  1. I would love to know how you do the autumn vegetables and sausage recipe. I am always looking for good crock-pot recipes.

  2. I’m just getting caught up on reading posts and I came across this one. I love it! I make menus too, with a list not only of what I’m going to eat/serve on a given day, but also lists of what I need to prep for a day or two from now! It works so well and keeps us from ordering takeout!
