These Days
These days I haven’t been eating or preparing any elaborate meals. Many of my breakfasts look like the above picture and sometimes they are prepared entirely by our five-year-old as I look on from my perch in the nursing chair.
These days I spend hours every day sitting, feeding, burping, and snuggling this little lady.
These days I watch on as Papa plants our garden and think "I should blog about this." And then a dozen times a day the same thought occurs to me as life moves around me. And yet here I sit, nearly four weeks since Annabelle’s birth, and somehow the urgency to blog just hasn’t hit me yet.
These days I wash some of the dishes and prepare one or two meals on a good day. And if the floor gets swept that’s even better.
These days can seem slow and repetitive and oh-so-fleeting. So I think I will stay here in these early days, trying to soak up every drop of tiny little fingers and sweet snuggles in the sling. If two older babies have taught me anything it is that these days will end way too soon.
Oh so cute. 🙂 And what a lovely reminder about soaking in the simplicity of these early days. Many blessings to you and your sweet family. 🙂
So sweet. Enjoy it. Love the name. Our oldest (5) is Annabelle.
You are so right about “these days” ending way too soon. My “newborn” is almost 7 months old. We’re getting more done these days, but I still cherish the first weeks. Congratulations on your baby.
Such a great reminder. I only have one little one (16 months) and I thought I was soaking it up when she was tiny but my mind was buzzing with thoughts of “when will I be able to ‘DO’ stuff again?” Now I see in retrospect that I *was* DOING perhaps one of the most important things I will ever do! Nurturing a tiny, helpless new life. Next time I plan to rest and just soak it all in.
Beautiful baby!
So true, so very true. I sure do miss the days when my children were little. I told them all to quit growing up on me and stay little..please, please.. but they never listen. Now they are 15, 13, and 7. Enjoy your precious darling.
She is just beautiful. Full disclosure – maybe I’m not too objective as a grandma. Enjoy your time as you soak up every minute with your little lady.
Congratulations on your beautiful daughter. I knew you were due & then you weren’t posting for quite a while – so I was concerned that something may have gone wrong. So I am glad to know that you are all fine. God bless!
That’s right on, mama. You go soak up that beautiful baby girl. Chores, elaborate meals, and cyber friends (us) will all be here when you’re good and ready. I hope you enjoy every fleeting minute of your new family rhythm. Hugs!!
Congratulations on your new little lady! I just had my third girl this past summer, and I don’t think it ever gets any easier for someone used to keeping a busy household running to spend weeks on end sitting and nursing a baby, but you are right; the time will be gone before you know it. Enjoy that sweet baby! Very happy for you and your family!
So true! My daughter is 6 weeks old and she is my 4th 🙂 I am treasuring every tiny moment!! It goes so quickly!
Congratulations to one of my favorite families! Thank you for all you share!
