January Postcards
Ruthie really seems to like the Creamy Dairy-Free Sweet Potato Soup.
The strike is over! The hens returned to laying a few weeks ago after a few months of molting and whatever other reason they had for giving a couple of eggs a day.
We are currently in our garden break for the year. This is usually just late November through mid-February and so I am trying to catch up on a few of the projects I normally don’t have time for. Organizing and cleaning places in our little 700 square foot cabin that I haven’t gotten to since… we moved in four years ago. Canning all of the old dried beans that would never soften otherwise.
And hours every day of school books cracked, questions asked, and that dreaded red pen no one seems to like.
Also, enjoying these boys and girls before a busier season rolls in. Snuggles and books and “Mama, let’s make (fill in your favorite baked good here)”. Fires in the wood stove; pots of water forever heating on the stove for dishes and laundry; so many garden ideas and dreams…
This is January.
The red pen! It’s my favorite, but my kids hate it, too. As a joke, I gave myself a pack of red pens for Christmas because I can never seem to find one when I’m grading. I think they “accidentally” lose them, kind of like I “accidentally” misplace their toys that they don’t play with.
Simply brilliant.
